Hello, everybody!
I haven't been around much lately, but it feels good to be back. I have been working my butt off for my Etsy shop this year; it remains a bit overwhelming because the work seems endless, but I love it so much. I decided in December 2010 that I needed to begin making my single strand hemp bracelets in batches of ten, and those along with a homemade light box helped me produce much better quality images this year. So that means that my workload went up like crazy! So far, since December, I have made approximately 450 single strand bracelets, 35+ pairs of arm warmers, 15 chokers, three triple strand hemp and ribbon bracelets, and I've remodeled about 4 pages of my shop so far due to the homemade light box. My sales shot up for a while there, and it was great! Since then they have declined a bit, and it gives me time to start up the blog again. I'm really looking forward to it.

Tonight, I have a couple of things that I want to post. The first thing I'll share are some of the newest listings in my shop. I'm so glad that I finally have a light box!

I was just on Stumbleupon and I came across this really cool blog! It gives instructions with pictures on how to make roses from maple leaves. It may be a little out of season at the moment, but it's a really cool idea to keep in mind! These maple leaf roses would rock around Thanksgiving, or they could be used to decorate packages, be given as gifts, you name it!

This has been a great St. Patties Day =)
I woke up to find out that my Facebook page, which got hacked in to 9 days ago, has been reactivated. Meaning my 285 fans are back. =D I was really upset when I had to start a new account and slowly add fans. It was taking a whileeee... lol. Anywho, it started a great day. Corned beef and cabbage ended it, of course.

I'm learning how to do chainmail! Or chain mail. Or chainmaille. Or chain maille. I'm not exactly sure how your supposed to spell it because there are SO MANY different ways it seems. Is it an English thing? Does anyone know? I tried to find out but then I got distracted with this listing!

I'm really excited to start working with chainmail. I've always admired other artists who do it, and I finally decided it's a hobby to add to the list (or else I just can't afford it! lol). Anywho, you'll be seeing much more of this in the future!

Okay1 I'm finally back from my break. It was really needed after the holidays. I just had to have a few days to SLEEP and then I needed to catch up on some inventory. I feel much better now, and I'm ready to go charging head first into 2010! So with that said, here is my newest bracelet!
This bracelet is a little bit different. I made each hemp strand with hemp AND fun fur yarn, and then I weaved the bracelets together with more fun fur! These bracelets keep your wrists warm, and it's a fun and SOFt way to wear hemp!

I just thought that I would say Happy Thanksgiving to all of my followers! I have found that I have a lot to be thankful for this year- the support my family and boyfriend have shown me, all the wonderful people I've met and connected with this year because of The Hempsphere, the business itself (of course!), and all of my friends who have been there from day one. I'm thankful for my entire world, and I just can't wait to see where it will go next. It's all because of you guys that I can write any of this, and so thank you, you wonderful fans of handmade! You bring the life back into my world.

Hi all!
So I've decided to add a bit of my photography to my store just to mix it up a bit. No worries, I've got a huge batch of bracelets to get online soon, I just ran out of camera batteries yesterday and didn't want to leave the house. This led to me playing around with some old photos, and I've decided I'm going to continue to add photography in with my bracelets because I really enjoy it. Photography was my first love, I just set it aside a couple of years ago because I couldn't perfect my prints with all the digital work out there. So I went digital, and it turns out that it's a blast! Anyway, here's the new stuff!

Hi, all!
First of all I would like to say that I apologize for my absence. Recently I figured out exactly how many bracelets I would need to make a day to make a livable income, and it's a bunch if I keep my prices as low as they are. I don't want to raise my prices because I really like to offer affordable jewelry, so I'm working my butt off to make my prices not an issue. However, if I do this, I won't have enough to time to do quite as much marketing and featuring as I'd like to.
Because of all of this, I've decided that my blog features are going to be weekly instead of daily. I just don't have time to do this everyday. I was thinking Wednesday would be a perfect day to feature because it's one of my days off, and it's also the day I put together my finished pieces. Surprisingly, this takes less time then the knotting of the hemp. So anywho, I'll get on with it. =)

The Craft Show

Hey, guys!
So I know I havn't posted in a couple of days, but I have been busy! I live in Boise, and every year we get one BIG craft show- Art in the Park. I had to head over there and try some marketing this weekend. However, it didn't really go as well as I had hoped. I mean, the entire show was different than it had been before. The crafts were even more expensive than usual, and the people where older and more uptight. I would really like to head over to some Portland/Seattle shows in the future, or I would at least like to go up to Moscow, Idaho. The people in Boise are not very pleasant folk. I mean seriously, all I wanted to do was to help promote them and swap business cards, and one man practically laughed at me and told me that he has a very large number of clients, and he needed to be careful where his business cards ended up. $%$%#%^$# WHAT? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Very rude, rude people. I'm sure that not everyone there was like that, but I couldn't seem to find the nice ones. It really saddened me.

So anyway, it wasn't the best weekend and it had me all discouraged for a short time, then I realized that it wasn't even worth it to be discouraged. I doubt I could help them much anyway, honestly. Their prices where outrageous!

This week I'm back on it, though. I just ordered 230 yards of ribbon and it should be here in two weeks. I just have to figure out where to get more buttons. Expect a bunch of new stuff in the near future though, folks.

And also, I apologize for my rant, but be weary of Art in the Park if you ever stop by Boise.

It's my first time in one, and I'm pretty excited about it! I also have to give love to The Crafters Guild Place for giving me a free ad square. I do believe she's looking for more people, so you should send her a message on Etsy or comment her blog!

Anyway, today has been PACKED with marketing so far. We'll see how the crafting goes throughout the evening. I have a whole bunch of bracelets that are all about half done right now. Check back for updates!

So I have been working all day (which is about 13 hours at this point and I'm still at it) on editing old photos, uploading them, and adding nine new items to my Esty shop. Success! Now I'm working on making a Myspace page which is interesting, and I've also set up an email for The Hempsphere. It is thehempsphere@yahoo.com. I have to change that everywhere soon, but it might not happen until morning. Or maybe tomorrow I will go fishing after pulling a double today. We'll see!

Kitten Attack and the Destruction of my Houseplant. =/

So this morning, my kitten viciously attacked my houseplant. I caught her with the evidence red handed. It was kind of tragic for my houseplant, so lets all take a moment of silence for the poor thing. =/

This is the second victim of these attacks.

I really need to invest in some pinecones. Apparently cats hate pinecones I just found out... lol she's always destroying stuff, but she's so cute!

And here is what she left of the plant. This one is pretty harsh.

Hi Everyone!

I just thought I would share my latest creation. I'm also starting to get the hang of taking and editing these pictures. What do you think? I think they look SO MUCH better than my other ones. Tomorrow will be a super busy day as I go edit crazy on my old photos and post new ones for my listings! Wow that's a lot of work, but worth it!

Here's my new bracelet. I made the flower out of fabric from a dress I never wore, and the hemp is a bit lighter on this one. The flower is big yet elegant, and you could even pull off something casual with this one!

I'm still wanting to feature sellers. I will be contacting more as the evening progresses.

SO today has been kind of a wreck, but works over! Yay! Well, my day job is. I still have a whole night of hemp knoting ahead of me! I'm hoping that I'll have a new item to post later or in the morning!

I want to feature Etsy sellers!

Hey everybody!
So not much is happening around my shop. I really am anxious to get more listings up, but I have four bracelets that seem to clash with all of my embelishments =( . So I've been spending the past couple of days making beads and *gasp* clay fabric colored buttons! I LOVE making the buttons surprisingly - I was sure I was going to hate it! Anyway so I've been going button crazy- maybe I'll just set up some listings for those. I'll probably post pictures later, but right now I need to tuck in some strings.

I've also decided that I really want to turn this blog into one of those blogs that feature Etsy sellers! I love browsing through Etsy, I love the people on the site, and I just can't believe how many awesome things are listed every day. I just don't exactly know how to go about getting an audience for my blog so that sellers will actually want to be featured! I guess the only way to start is to start asking questions.

Anyway, if you're interested in handmade items or if your an Etsy fan, follow my blog to hear updates on my products, contest updates, and maybe some featured seller news in the *very* near future!

So, this is the first Hempsphere blog post! If you've never heard of The Hempsphere, go to thehempsphere.com for more info. It's all about hemp jewelry around here- I make hemp and ribbon bracelets and I have a shop set up on the wonderful Etsy.com. I ty to aim for an alternative feel in most of the pieces, whether it be punk, goth, or a classic hippie feel. I love working with hemp, and I've also been working with alot of clay lately. I've started creating some clay beads that would be just rockin' with hemp! As soon as they are all baked and glazed I'll post some pictures!
